A valiant effort

rock lilies

On a rock in the bush in a good year, a rock lily (dendrobium speciosum) can produce a dazzling number of flower spikes in spring, visible for miles – well, maybe not miles, but their creamy colour really stands out against the grey-green bush.

The spike output of my little collection is much more modest but, in the face of my total neglect of them, a cause for celebration. I vow I will give them more attention from now on.
