!!XX#?!!?

Thought I’d seen everything there is to see in my neighbourhood but took a walk yesterday – instead of the usual drive – along a familiar local street and bumped into this on the nature strip. Astonished! Rushed home to Google. What is it? Termed cauliflorous due to flowering on their trunks, these trees, which include the redbud, are seldom seen. Not sure which one it is but possibly a large syzygium – anyway a suitably bizarre name.
